Webflow or a managed roofing site: who operates it after the designer leaves?

Webflow is the most capable tool in this comparison and we are not going to damn it with faint praise: it gives real control over structure, SEO metadata, canonical tags, sitemaps, redirects and structured data, and it publishes to a global content network. The problem for a roofing company is not the tool, it is the staffing model. Webflow assumes somebody with design and technical ability is available to operate it, and a roofing company that hires one for a build rarely keeps one afterwards.

The controls are genuinely there

Webflow lists SEO metadata control, alt text control, Open Graph settings, canonical tags, sitemap controls, crawler access controls, a robots file, an llms file and schema markup support among its site plan features. That is a more serious search toolkit than any other builder in this comparison, and a well-built Webflow roofing site can absolutely compete.

Where the roofing use case strains

A roofing site is not a design showcase, it is thirty or forty pages that need to stay accurate while the business changes. Webflow is excellent at producing a beautiful, precisely built site and less suited to being the thing an office manager updates on a Tuesday. The CMS makes bulk content possible, but somebody still has to write it and keep the structure straight.

Two commercial details worth knowing up front

Site plans and workspace plans are separate purchases, and code export lives on the workspace side: Webflow states that code export is only available on workspace plans and that site plans do not include it. The export itself also excludes a lot, including CMS content, form submission processing and site search, which is the sort of detail that only becomes relevant on the day you want to leave.

What Webflow publishes about itself

Every line below was read on their own site or documentation on the date shown. We do not publish a competitor fact we cannot point at.

  • Webflow publishes site plans from a free Starter tier through Basic and Premium, with the CMS arriving on Premium, and states that all prices are in US dollars, per site, plus applicable taxes.

Their case

When Webflow is the right choice

If any of these describe you, Webflow is likely the better tool and we would say so.

  • You have a designer in house or on a genuine retainer who will keep building in it after launch.
  • You want an unusual, highly art-directed site and are willing to invest in it. Webflow will go further than a managed plan will.
  • You want full control of every SEO field yourself rather than delegating it.
  • You want the option to export the code eventually, and you understand it lives on the workspace plan and excludes CMS content, forms and search.

Our case

When a managed plan fits a roofing company better

Almost always for the same reason: nobody is going to log in.

  • Your team are roofers. A tool that needs a skilled operator becomes a tool nobody opens.
  • You want the content written as well as the site built, every week, without commissioning it.
  • You want one fee covering build, hosting, changes, articles and support, rather than a site plan plus a workspace plan plus a freelancer.
  • You want somebody answerable when something is wrong, in a portal, with a stated turnaround.
Not always either-or

If you already have a Webflow site you like

A well-built Webflow site is not a problem to be solved. If yours is fast, structured properly and being maintained, keep it. The conversation worth having is about what is missing rather than about replacing what works.

From roofing companies we have built for

  • Emma Stanton

Customer care coordinator, leisure center roofing contractor

The part I rate most highly is the form, not the visuals. Every submission arrives with building use, roof type and site location filled in, which used to take us a second email to obtain. The first message is usually enough to act on now.

    St. Petersburg, Florida

Inquiry form and response workflow for commercial roof assessments

  • Ashleigh Sanderson

Scheduling supervisor, single-ply membrane roofing installer

I tested the commercial roof assessments page on my own phone before we approved anything. Key information comes first and the contact option is clearly labeled. The days of talking customers through the menu are over.

    Overland Park, Kansas

Mobile navigation and page layout for commercial roof assessments

  • Andrea Copperfield

Survey bookings administrator, warehouse roofing and cladding contractor

Getting the commercial roof assessments wording right mattered more to us than any visual choice. It explains what an inquiry achieves and is honest about what still needs a proper discussion. Customers arrive with realistic expectations, which changes the whole tone of the first call.

The practical part

Moving off Webflow

  1. We list every published URL, including CMS collection pages, from the live site.
  2. At onboarding we agree what carries over and what is rewritten, and we keep the structure that is already working.
  3. Every old URL gets a permanent redirect before launch, so nothing you rank for is dropped.
  4. You point the domain when you are happy, then cancel the site plan.

Questions about Webflow and a managed site

Can I export my Webflow site?

On a workspace plan, yes. Webflow states that code export is only available on workspace plans and that site plans do not include it, and that the export excludes CMS content, form submission processing, site search, user accounts, ecommerce and several other pieces.

Is Webflow better for SEO than your sites?

Webflow gives you excellent controls. We configure equivalent things for you and generate the structured data automatically. The practical difference is not the ceiling, it is whether anyone at your company reaches it.

Webflow looks cheap on the pricing page. Is it?

The site plan alone can be, and Webflow prices it in US dollars per site. The real budget usually includes a workspace plan and the person who designs and maintains the thing, and that person is the largest line.

Could you build my site in Webflow?

No. Every site we build is custom coded on our own stack, which is what lets us guarantee the speed and manage it without you logging in anywhere. Guaranteeing performance on a platform we do not control would be a promise we could not keep.

My Webflow site is fast already. Why move?

If it is fast, structured properly and being maintained, do not move. The reason roofing companies come to us from Webflow is almost never speed. It is that the person who built it is no longer answering.

What happens to my CMS collections?

The content in them is migrated where it is worth keeping, with each URL redirected. We rebuild from the live pages rather than relying on an export that omits CMS content.

Do you keep the design?

We can work from it, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping. A design that is doing its job is not something we replace for the sake of replacing it.

How long does the move take?

Launch is 7 to 15 days from onboarding depending on the plan, with redirects in place before the domain is pointed. You keep the Webflow site live until you are satisfied.
