Is the GoHighLevel website builder enough for a roofing company?
For a one-crew roofing company that wants a presentable site, already pays for GoHighLevel and has somebody willing to sit in the editor, the bundled website builder is a reasonable answer and costs nothing extra. It stops being the right answer at the point where the site needs a page for every service crossed with every town, a publishing schedule, guaranteed performance, and a person other than you responsible for all of it.
The real appeal is that it is already paid for
If GoHighLevel is already running your pipeline, your calendar and your follow-up, adding a website inside the same login is genuinely convenient. One system, one bill, one place where the leads land. We are not going to pretend that has no value, because for a lot of roofing companies it is the difference between having a site and not having one.
Where the ceiling actually is
A builder gives you a canvas. It does not give you a page plan, and the failure mode we take over most often is not an ugly site, it is a site with one services page covering five trades and no page for any of the eleven towns the crews drive to. That is a structural problem, and no drag-and-drop editor fixes it, because the editor is not the thing that decides what pages should exist.
And the question nobody asks at signup
Who updates it in March? A builder makes the first version easy and the two hundredth change tedious. Every roofing company we take over has a site that was built with enthusiasm and has not changed since, because the person who built it went back to running crews. The tool was never the bottleneck. The time was.
What the GoHighLevel website builder publishes about itself
Every line below was read on their own site or documentation on the date shown. We do not publish a competitor fact we cannot point at.
HighLevel sites are hosted by HighLevel, with a domain assigned to them, and the editor exposes SEO metadata fields, a custom CSS tab and header and footer tracking code.

The bundled builder against a custom-coded managed site
Read the left column first. Where the other option is genuinely better, the row says so.

Their case
When the GoHighLevel builder is the right call
Genuinely, and we will say so on a sales call rather than after you have signed.
- You are a one or two crew operation covering one town, and a clear five-page site is all the web presence the business needs right now.
- You already pay for the platform, and adding another monthly fee is not something the business can carry this season.
- Somebody in the office actually enjoys this and will keep the site current. That person is worth more than any vendor.
- You want everything, site, pipeline, calendar and follow-up, behind one login, and you value that more than you value the search traffic you are giving up.
Our case
When it is worth paying somebody else
The pattern is consistent: it is about coverage, upkeep and accountability, not about the editor.
- You cover more than a handful of towns and want a real page for each one, which is a lot of pages for somebody to build and keep straight.
- You want content published every week without anyone at your company writing it.
- Speed matters to you because you run ads, and you want it as a written term rather than a hope.
- You want one person to call when something is wrong with the site, and for it to be fixed without you learning anything.
You do not have to choose the platform or the site
Keep GoHighLevel for what it is excellent at, which is the CRM, the pipeline, the calendar and the automations, and let the website be built and run separately. This is the arrangement most of our GoHighLevel clients end up with, and nothing about it requires you to leave the platform.
- 1Your CRM, pipelines, calendars and automations stay exactly where they are.
- 2The site connects into GoHighLevel so every quote request, chat and call lands in the pipeline you already work from.
- 3Your booking calendar can be embedded on the site, so a homeowner books into the same calendar your crews already run on.
- 4If you later want the whole thing inside HighLevel again, your domain and your content are yours to take.
From roofing companies we have built for
Ashleigh Sanderson
Scheduling supervisor, single-ply membrane roofing installer
I tested the commercial roof assessments page on my own phone before we approved anything. Key information comes first and the contact option is clearly labeled. The days of talking customers through the menu are over.
Mobile navigation and page layout for commercial roof assessments
Conrad Fairchild
Estimator, office block roof maintenance company
The 'did you receive it?' calls about commercial roof assessments were a daily occurrence here. Submitters now see exactly what we will do with their request and when to expect us. A modest change with an outsized effect on our mornings.
Submission acknowledgment and follow-up for commercial roof assessments
Andrea Copperfield
Survey bookings administrator, warehouse roofing and cladding contractor
Getting the commercial roof assessments wording right mattered more to us than any visual choice. It explains what an inquiry achieves and is honest about what still needs a proper discussion. Customers arrive with realistic expectations, which changes the whole tone of the first call.

Moving from a site you built in the builder
- Send us the current site address. We list every public URL on it before we design anything.
- At onboarding we agree the real page plan: which services deserve a page, which towns you actually cover, what is retired.
- We build, you review, and every old URL gets a permanent redirect to its new equivalent so saved links and indexed pages keep working.
- Your GoHighLevel account carries on untouched. Point the domain, and the new site is live.
Questions about the GoHighLevel website builder and a managed site
Can I export my site out of GoHighLevel if I leave?
HighLevel states in its own documentation that it does not support exporting a website for management or editing outside the platform, and that there is no supported one-to-one export. That is worth knowing at signup rather than at renewal, whichever way you decide.
Does the GoHighLevel builder do SEO?
It exposes SEO metadata fields and lets you add custom CSS and tracking code, so the controls are there. The harder part is not the fields, it is having the right pages to put them on and somebody writing them every month.
Is a custom-coded site really faster?
A page with almost no client-side JavaScript served from a global edge network has a structural head start over any template-driven builder. We put a number on it: 90+ Google PageSpeed on mobile and desktop, fixed free if a page we control drops below it.
I already pay for GoHighLevel. Am I paying twice?
You are paying for two different things: a CRM and automation platform, and a website plus the people who run it. If the website is not going to be maintained by anyone at your company, the second one is buying labour rather than software.
Can you work inside my GoHighLevel account instead?
Building inside HighLevel is not what this offer is. What we do connect is the leads: every enquiry from the site lands in your GoHighLevel pipeline, tested with a real submission before launch.
What about my existing forms and calendars?
Your GoHighLevel calendar can be embedded directly on the new site, and your forms can either stay as embeds or be rebuilt as native pages that route into the same place. We test whichever you choose before launch.
How many town pages do I actually need?
One for each place you genuinely send crews, and no more. Building pages for towns you do not serve is how a site gets filtered as thin content, which damages the whole domain rather than just those pages.
Do I lose my rankings by moving?
Not if the migration is done properly. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent and permanently redirected before launch, which preserves the signals those pages already carry.
